Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin's children do not like seeing her glammed up

Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin's children burst into tears when she gets glammed up for showbiz bashes.

Dakota, five, and three-year-old Carson know it means that the 38-year-old actress is going to be away from them for a while.

Brenda told Entertainment Tonight: "They go, 'No, don't leave!'

"The moment they see me leave dressed up, they cry because they know we're leaving. Otherwise, I'm in pajamas most of the time."

The Zootopia 2 star admitted that "it's so hard", and Brenda and 45-year-old actor Macaula had to face that tough moment when they attended the Running Point season 2 premiere at The Egyptian Theater, Hollywood, on Wednesday (15.04.26).

But Dakota and Carson do not understand that their parents sometimes need to attend glitzy events as part of their work because they are unaware of Brenda and Macaulay's fame.

During an appearance on the Hot Ones YouTube show in August 2025, Macaulay added: "They see momma on TV because when she's not around, I put on [her TV show] Suite Life [The Suite Life of Zack and Cody].

"Just saying. I say oh yeah, no, I showed them some Suite Life, and you know what [my son] Dak said.

"He goes: 'Someday I want to grow up and marry a girl just as pretty as [Brenda's character] London Tipton'. I'm like, 'Yeah, yeah, yep, yep.'

"But they are thoroughly unimpressed that we're on TV and stuff like that. I don't want them to get mired by all that kind of stuff."

Macaulay is best known for Home Alone.

He played plucky eight-year-old Kevin McCallister, who defends his family home against a pair of burglars, Harry Lyme (Joe Pesci) and Marv Murchins (Daniel Stern), after his parents, Kate McCallister (Catherine O'Hara) and Peter McCallister (John Heard), forgot him as they traveled to Paris, France.

And Macaulay and his fiancee Brenda use the 1990 Christmas classic to teach Dakota and Carson about stranger danger.

In February, she told E! News: "They love all the hijinks and the traps and stuff. They have no real concept [of the danger]. My oldest gets it more than my younger son.

"I remember at the end going, 'See, your mama's here right next to you. Don't you want to give me a hug?' I didn't leave. I'm so terrible, but I feel like your children have to be a little scared. Fear goes a long way."

Brenda takes every opportunity to improve Dakota and Carson's safety skills.

The Operation Taco Gary's cast member explained: "I said, 'They're a stranger if you don't know their name.'

"I was like, 'It doesn't matter if they're someone's parents. If you don't know their name, or you've never seen them before at our house, they are a stranger.'

"Everywhere we go, I'm like, 'How do we get home?' Every building we go in, like, 'How did we get here? How do we get out?'

"I was teaching them exit signs."

And Macaulay has shared how he feels about his partner stressing the importance of safety to their children.

Brenda said: "My partner thinks I'm absolutely crazy about it."
