Sarah Michelle Gellar has enjoyed every moment of knowing Freddie Prinze Jr.

The 48-year-old actress marked her actor husband's 50th birthday with a sweet tribute shared to Instagram on Sunday (08.03.26).

Sarah posted a photo of the pair with the caption: "Happy Milestone Bday @realfreddieprinze Age is simply the number of years the world has gotten to enjoy you. And no one has enjoyed you, more than me. (sic)"

Some of the couple's celebrity pals, including TV personality Amanda Kloots, 43, The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Heather Dubrow, 57, and WWE wrestler Charlotte Flair, 39, also shared their birthday well-wishes for Freddie in the post's comments section.

Last July, Freddie reflected on his and Sarah's marriage - which began at the El Careyes resort in Mexico in September 2002.

He told Variety: "Marriage is hard no matter what business you're in. What works for us might not work for everyone else. We work at it.

"I'm not perfect. She's not perfect. We p*** each other off, but we respect one another. We were friends first. Maybe that's the secret?

"It wasn't just, 'Oh, she's hot, he's hot - let's hook up.' But I know people who've done it the other way, and their relationships are just as strong as mine."

Freddie and Sarah - who met on the set of the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer, but started dating in 2000 - like to keep their relationship private.

Freddie - who, reportedly, announced his and Sarah's engagement at a party for her 24th birthday in April 2001 - appeared on the Oldish podcast, where co-host Randy Spelling, 47, noted: "Something that I've admired about your relationship is you both have seemed to stay out of the public."

Freddie responded: "That's by choice, though. You can control it to a certain degree...

"I don't know how deliberate [others] are in trying to avoid that BS. I know how easy it's been for us because I don't go anywhere. I don't go to parties. People don't see Sarah and I out and about at the popular places.

"We have our restaurants that we like, and they're not super trendy in places where paparazzi hang out. So we're good at avoiding it."

In January 2026, however, Sarah credited having separate bathrooms for her long-lasting marriage to Scooby-Doo co-star Freddie.

She told E! News: "Separate bathrooms. That's what I always say."
