ST. PAUL, Minn. — Bruce Springsteen apparently can’t get enough of the Twin Cities.

Before he kicks off his Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour on Tuesday, March 31, at Target Center in Minneapolis, he’ll give another performance at the No Kings rally on Saturday at the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul.

“You want to try to meet the moment,” Bruce Springsteen told the Minnesota Star Tribune on Monday afternoon. “The No Kings movement is of great import right now.

“When you have the opportunity to sing something where the timing is essential and if you have something powerful to sing, it elevates the moment, it elevates your job to another level,” he said. “And I’m always in search of that.”

Springsteen confirmed that he will sing “Streets of Minneapolis,” the instant protest song he wrote and recorded after the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in January and debuted at First Avenue on Jan. 30.

The No Kings rally will feature Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, actor/activist Jane Fonda and singers Joan Baez and Maggie Rogers, among others.

“Having Joan there, what can you say about her?” Springsteen said by telephone from New York. “She’s lived a life.”
