Lisa Benson

Before becoming an editorial cartoonist, Lisa Benson was a stay-at-home mother of four looking for a way to supplement her husband's income. In 1990, she began drawing cartoons for the local monthly publication "The Senior Advocate," and decided to move on to editorial cartooning. Her talent was recognized almost immediately by the Victor Valley Daily Press, and later by the Washington Post Writer's Group. She worked as a cartoonist from 1992 to 2002, when she took time off to look after her parents, and resumed her work in 2004.

Benson's recognitions include second and third place recognitions from the Society of Professional Journalists' Inland Southern California Chapter, and first-place honors from the California Newspaper Publishers Association.
