Isn’t evangelism the job of people who have been called by God to specifically preach?

on

From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

Q: I deal with people from many nations, but I’ve not been given the gift of evangelism. Isn’t that the job of people who have been called by God to specifically preach? – C.E.

A: Never forget: Jesus Christ died to save people from even the most remote corner of the world – people you and I will never know during our lifetimes but people we may be with in Heaven forever. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” (John 3:16, NKJV).

God’s plan is universal! No tribe, no language group, no nation is beyond the scope of His love. The same should be true of us. Jesus’ words to His disciples (followers of Christ) have never been rescinded: “You shall be witnesses to Me … to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8, NKJV).

Not everyone is called of God to be a missionary or evangelist. But those who know Christ are part of His “grand design” to proclaim His truth to people from every part of the world. By our prayers, our giving, our faithful witness, and our obedient service, we can have an impact for the Gospel far beyond ourselves. We are all called to speak the truth of the Gospel to people God puts in our pathway.

The power to proclaim the greatest news in Heaven was not given to the angels. It was given to the redeemed. Every Christian is to be a witness. May the Lord give us the willingness and desire to get out of our comfort zones to reach people from all walks of life with the message of hope found only in Christ Jesus. Will we be found faithful?
