New Moon Flirts With Destiny

Holiday Mathis on

We court destiny on the last new moon of the year, an omen to focus our moments of self-reflection and cheer on our final pushes to the finish of 2024. The Sagittarius moon suggests that by framing the past in a flattering light, we win destiny's favor. And each time we paint the picture of our life in beautiful tones, destiny reorders paint in similar hues.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). There's less to do and more to adapt to today, which is no small feat. You'll be reminded of how flexibility is its own kind of strength. Your quick choices will serve, support and care for those around you.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You've got plans, places to be and moments to hit right on the dot. Keep your cool. There's no need to rush around, which would only cause mistakes and dropped beats. A calm pace will keep everything on the rails.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You're drawn to people who bear heavy loads with grace, lifting their gaze to the bigger picture. You might not notice, but you're one of those inspiring souls yourself, quietly moving others to rise higher.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Did you know you are someone's muse? You captivate and inspire a longing for your attention and company. You've had this feeling about others and know so well the satisfaction of turning emotions into creations.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You may start the day feeling puzzled or creatively blocked, but you'll hit a groove and motivation will set in. There is a bit of information that has previously been held back. Ask a few more questions and you'll find it out.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You're standing at the edge of something unfamiliar. Lean in with curiosity; this path has much to teach you. And though this goes ever-forward, it still somehow connects to part of your past and the chance to release old grievances.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You're about to find a fresh way to blend into someone's world, a role that feels natural and brings a new dimension to your bond. You'll be reminded of how you value people more than the set of credentials they may come with.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You'll be busy staying ahead of the maintenance life requires, keeping everything in fine working order. And don't worry, people are coming around to the realization they need your unique touch -- even before they fully understand why.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). A truth will surface. You'll know it by the surprising way it brings the loose ends together, providing a sense of relief. Let answers settle gently before you react. You'll find clarity where there was doubt.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Someone will extend a hand. Don't hold back. This is a safe step forward, and by taking it, you'll open the door to mutual growth. Eventually, you won't need the assist. A hidden strength of yours is about to be called forward.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Your mood: independent, resourceful and daring. Your aims are not typical, and the way you accomplish them even less so, but the reactions you get will fall right in line with what you're going for. Eyebrows will raise, and applause and laughter are also forthcoming.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Part of the story isn't adding up. But that's the wonderful thing about stories -- they don't always have to be accounted for. Unlike math, there is no absolute correct answer, and when the equation goes unsolved, the mystery might contribute to a lovelier experience.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Dec. 1). You'll join forces to build a very creative solution to a huge need for many. Don't compromise too much in the early stages, as your vision is strong and your taste and style of accomplishing the task will attract the people you'll be hanging around much of the year. More highlights: high-energy fitness, vows and parties, and peace and comfort for your family. Gemini and Scorpio adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 2, 29, 19, 46 and 13.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Like a Sagittarius, Janelle Monae is famously independent, creative and relentlessly driven to push boundaries. Following the quest for freedom and exploration, she's built a unique space in music, film and advocacy by embracing themes of futurism, identity and radical self-expression. Known for concept albums such as "The ArchAndroid" and "Dirty Computer," Monae combines science fiction and Afrofuturism with socially conscious messages, challenging norms and expanding the scope of pop culture.
