Olivia Munn said she looked 'too young' for 30 Rock

NEW YORK — Olivia Munn said she had a gig on “30 Rock” booked, but lost the job after it was decided that she looked too young to play star Alec Baldwin’s love interest.
The 45-year-old actor recalled feeling “really good” about her audition for the hit NBC show that aired from 2006 to 2013. Munn told the Hollywood Reporter she got a call saying it was a done deal. But that wasn’t to be.
A couple days later, she said she was informed Baldwin — who’s about 23 years Munn’s senior — had concerns about her youthful appearance.
After two more days passed, Munn said she was assured that wouldn’t be a deal-breaker. The day before she was to fly out to begin work, another call came.
“Alec thinks that you look too young and he’s putting his foot down,” she was told.
That role went to Elizabeth Banks, who’s seven years older than Munn. IMDb said she appeared in 15 episodes of “30 Rock” between 2010 and 2012.
While Munn said landing that role would’ve been a big career break for her, she said she wasn’t crushed because the rejection hinged on the year she was born rather that what she can do.
“I ended up not getting the job because of something I couldn’t control,” she said. “On my ability and my acting, I got it. It gave me so much confidence.”
Munn currently stars alongside Jon Hamm and Amanda Peet in Apple TV’s “Your Friends & Neighbors.” She has a romantic relationship with Hamm, 55, on that dark comedy.
Baldwin is 26 years older than his wife in real life.
