Burglars broke into the home of Marvel and “Barbie” star Simu Liu over the weekend, according to reports published Monday.
The intruders smashed a glass door around 11 p.m. Friday and began rooting around the Southern California home, sources told TMZ. Liu, 35, was not home at the time.
In fact, Liu’s home is being remodeled and nothing valuable was inside to be stolen, according to TMZ. Security personnel were alerted to the break-in and called police, but no suspects were still in the residence by the time cops arrived.
There have been numerous burglaries at the homes of Hollywood stars and professional athletes over the past year. In the past month alone, burglars successfully hit actress Sophia Bush and jewelry designer Martin Katz’s homes in Southern California.
Earlier in the month, would-be thieves attempted to steal from Tyler Perry’s home in the same region but were thwarted by Perry’s security team.
And the FBI has warned professional sports leagues and their players to be on the lookout for robbers following a string of incidents across the country. Burglars hit the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic in recent months.
Fellow NBA players Mike Conley and Bobby Portis were also hit by burglary crews, and the FBI suggested that international criminal organizations were behind the thefts.
